MockIF is an AI-powered interview practice platform built to help people prepare for interviews with confidence, not pressure. We simulate realistic interview dynamics so you can practise the way interviews actually happen.
Why MockIF Exists
Interviews rarely follow scripts. Even skilled candidates struggle when conversations shift, follow-up questions interrupt their flow, or silence creates pressure. Practising answers in front of a mirror or typing them into a text box does not prepare you for those moments.
Most interview prep tools quiz you on questions and score your answers. That approach tests knowledge, but it does not build the confidence that comes from experiencing real interview dynamics. Research from Harvard Business Review and behavioural studies on interview performance consistently show that candidates underperform not because they lack the skills, but because they cannot deliver them under pressure.
MockIF was built to fill that gap. Instead of testing you, we train you. Every session adapts to your resume and target role, then adjusts pacing, follow-ups, and pressure based on how you respond, the same way a real interviewer would.
The Problem We Solve
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, tens of millions of workers transition between roles each year, and LinkedIn's Workplace Learning Report consistently identifies interview preparation as one of the highest-priority skills professionals seek to develop. Glassdoor research on candidate experience confirms that interviews remain the most stressful step of any job search, often more so than salary negotiation or onboarding.
The structural problem is clear. Real interviews are unpredictable conversations under pressure, but most preparation methods test isolated knowledge in low-stakes environments. Candidates show up to the real thing without ever having rehearsed the format itself.
MockIF closes the gap by training the format, not just the content. Every session is a full conversation, not a quiz. Pressure simulation (pacing changes, follow-up questions, deliberate silences) builds the muscle memory that real interviews demand.
Our Story
MockIF was founded in 2025 by Daniel Vinoth Solaimalai, a DevOps and platform engineer who spent years building infrastructure for engineering teams. During his own career transitions, he noticed a recurring pattern. Technically strong candidates, including himself, would underperform in interviews because they had not practised the experience of being interviewed.
The tools available at the time were either too expensive (professional coaching at $100 per session and up), too shallow (generic question lists), or too awkward (practising with friends who could not give honest feedback). There was no middle ground, no way to get realistic, pressure-tested practice on demand.
Daniel built MockIF to be that middle ground: affordable, always available, and realistic enough that the real interview feels familiar rather than intimidating.
Our Mission
Our mission is to make high-quality interview practice accessible to everyone, regardless of their budget, schedule, or network.
We believe confidence does not come from memorising answers or being scored. It comes from experiencing real interview dynamics in a safe environment, learning from them, and improving with each session. That is why MockIF focuses on practice over testing, repetition over perfection, and exposure over preparation alone.

Founder
Daniel Vinoth Solaimalai is the founder and CEO of MockIF. With a background in DevOps and platform engineering, Daniel spent years building and deploying systems for engineering teams before turning his attention to a problem he kept seeing in his own career: how unpredictable interviews are, even for technically strong candidates.
Daniel writes regularly about interview psychology, the gap between knowing answers and delivering them, and what makes preparation actually transfer to performance. His work appears on Medium and Dev.to. Connect with Daniel on LinkedIn.
